How to manufacture a new invention or product idea

An idea for a product will always remain just an idea if it does not undergo the necessary processes of manufacturing, to become a product. It is however very important that you know the various ways that your idea can be processed into manufacturing, and thus, it is recommended that you have an idea about the processes involved in the manufacture of your inventions, as it is a contributory factor in increasing your marketing success.

The truth is that manufacturing spans various processes and trends in technologies, and these processes are dependent on various factors including the product, the materials, the technology, etc. It is safe to say that the manufacture of a product presents you with the ability to choose from various materials, and also choice techniques to reach actualization. It is, however, important to note that whatever you decide upon will be a function of the target market you intend to reach, including the price targets. If your product is for the mass market, then you may need to opt for automated processes in order to efficiently facilitate mass production products, however, before going into mass production, it is imperative that you have a prototype, because, with the prototype building, you are able to make some deductions that may either affect or enhance the production.

Relationship with Manufacturers in Other Industries

One Stop Inventing is a company with a very good reputation, and that has earned us the opportunity to have solid relationships with various industries, and over time, it has helped us gain a better understanding about manufacturers, and manufacturing processes.

Manufacturing Processes

Manufacturing processes can be classified into broad categories, and these processes differ in costs and rates of output. As aforementioned, there are various manufacturing processes, and their categories include the following:

  • Casting- This involves plastics, metals, waxes, etc. when they are in their liquid state; they are used to fill a mold and then allowed to solidify.
  • 3D Printing- Used for metals and different types of plastics. After the design on a computer, it is then fed to a 3D printer that prints the design out physically.
  • Forging- Materials used in this process include metals heated up in a furnace and then beaten into different shapes.
  • Rolling- Metal sheets that are thick get rolled to become thinner sheets
  • Stamping- Metals are progressively stretched and punched to make shapes used in a die block.
  • Machining- With the aid of special machines, shapes are created from materials like plastics, metals, and wood, by removing materials away from them.
  • Molding- Plastics or metals are sent into molds with the aid of pressurization and then hardened to form shapes.
  • Cutting- There are different cutting techniques applied in this process, including the use of lasers, saws, drill bits and water jets, and it basically involves cutting a large piece of material into smaller pieces.
  • Finishing- The process involves the following: grinding, passivating, painting, electrocoating, heat treating, plating, polishing, anodizing, and grinding.
  • Joining- The materials get joined together by either of the following: gluing, welding, fusing, bolting, sewing, co-molding, screwing, and riveting.
  • Final Assembly- Different parts from various suppliers are put together to assemble the intended product, and this is done with various types of innovative technologies.
  • Supply Chain Management / Inventory- In order to minimize costs, it is important to identify that the various parts needed to put a product together, are readily available so that it does not hamper the processes in production.

By identifying the processes mentioned above, you have an idea of what best suits the idea you hope to materialize.
